HappyFull.ca organizes reviews according to price level and style of dining:

• $ HappyFull Comfort – Fast food and less expensive eateries like diners and pubs where meals can be enjoyed for less than $10 per person.
• $$ HappyFull Casual – More modern “fine causal dining” where main courses and the majority of dishes are priced between $10 and $16 per person.
• $$$ HappyFull Fancy – Upscale restaurants where pricing for main courses is between $16 and $24 per person.
• $$$$ HappyFull Luxury – The most fancy and sophisticated establishments with main courses costing over $24 per person.

Restaurants are rated based on their location and décor, their standard of service, and of course their food. Our reviewers are provided with guidelines with which to judge establishments so scores are compiled by fair and measurable means rather than arbitrarily.

Location and Decor
The location and décor category (30% of total score) includes factors such as design, view, cleanliness, parking, lighting and noise level.

Service
Service (30% of total score) measures customer service such as welcome and friendliness of staff, attentiveness and pace, as well as manners. It also includes the staff’s knowledge and willingness to make substitutions or to handle dietary restrictions. Overall perceived value is also seen as a measure of customer service.

Food
Enjoyment of food is the largest category (40% of total score) and probably of most concern to guests. Aside from the preparation and taste of dishes, the freshness and quality of ingredients are major factors in determining this score. Creative pairings, presentation and menu plan contribute to the food category as well.

In addition to dining at a particular restaurant in person, our reviews also check the business’ health inspection history and note where the information is relevant. It is an important aspect to measuring the value of the experience, and diners need to be informed.
